Somatic, trauma-informed coaching for anxiety, creativity, transitions, and authentic living

Being and becoming, for sensitive souls ready to reclaim their authenticity.

Amanda Beck, PhD, trauma-informed coach

You feel everything, and you’ve become remarkably good at not showing it.

You deliver when it counts, stay composed under pressure, and carry more than anyone knows. But beneath the capable surface, something is stirring: a racing heart before the big moments, a restlessness you can’t quite name, a quiet sense that the life you’ve built doesn’t fit who you’re becoming.

What if that anxiety isn’t a problem to fix, but a message? In my research and my own life, I’ve found that what we hold in to keep achieving doesn’t disappear. It waits. And when we finally make space to listen, it often points us toward our most authentic, creative, and alive selves.

I’m Amanda Beck, PhD, INHC: a trauma-informed coach, actress, and researcher of anxiety, authenticity, and creativity.

My approach

Rescripting Your Life

“To thine own self be true.”

William Shakespeare · Hamlet

Every life is shaped by a story: the roles we’ve learned to play, the lines we’ve rehearsed, the scripts handed to us long before we knew we could write our own. Some of those stories served us beautifully, for a while. But when anxiety rises, or life starts to feel like a part we’ve outgrown, it’s often a sign the script is ready to change.

Rescripting Your Life is the paradigm at the heart of my coaching. Born from my doctoral research and my life as an actress, it sees anxiety not as pathology, but as a calling: the authentic self asking to come forward. Like a garden, a new story can’t be forced. It’s tended, rooted in safety, and given room to grow. And like a performance, it comes alive through practice, until the role you’ve been rehearsing becomes who you are.

✦

Ground

Setting the stage

We tend the soil first, with somatic, nervous-system-based practices that help you feel safe enough to change.

✦

Envision

Writing the new script

Through reflection, imagination, and visioning, we listen for what you truly want, and let a truer story take shape.

✦

Embody

Stepping into the role

Small, directed daily choices carry the new story into your life, until it takes root and blooms.

This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about being, and becoming, who you’ve been all along.

How I work

Grounded in award-winning doctoral research, and in lived experience

My coaching draws on the models I developed through my doctoral research on anxiety, authenticity, and creativity, woven together with body-based, depth-oriented, and creative practices.

The foundation

Trauma-informed coaching: a safe, paced, choice-centered container, where nothing is forced and your nervous system sets the pace.

The body

Somatic and polyvagal-informed practices, grounding, mindfulness, embodied awareness, and energy and boundary work.

The depths

Jungian and depth psychology, archetypes and character work, shadow play, dreamwork, transpersonal perspectives, parts work, and trusting your inner knowing.

Creative practice

Acting, storytelling, writing, and imagination as tools for insight and expression.

Strengths and wellbeing

Humanistic and positive psychology, a focus on your natural gifts and resourcefulness, and integrative wellbeing: attention to the everyday rhythms, like rest, nourishment, and energy, that support a regulated nervous system.

What clients love

  • Discovering their own worth, and the confidence to act on it
  • Thinking in ways they didn’t know were possible
  • Changing the story in their heads, and believing in themselves again
  • Feeling deeply supported as they grow into who they’re becoming

Working together

Weekly coaching

$250 per session

50-minute sessions · Online

Every coaching relationship begins with an initial consultation. Once you send your coaching inquiry, I’ll reach out to you personally to schedule a conversation, so we can get to know each other and make sure we’re a good fit before we begin.

Coaching begins with an initial commitment of eight weekly sessions, a focused container for your work together. Sessions are paid one at a time, before each session. At our eighth session, we’ll reflect on where you are, and you can choose to continue with ongoing support or let those eight weeks be a complete chapter of their own.

Also available by inquiry

  • Intensives: a focused, deep-dive session for a crossroads, a big decision, or a high-stakes moment
  • Story and character consulting: for writers, directors, and actors bringing inner lives to the page and stage
  • Research consulting: mentoring for graduate students in heuristic, arts-based, and self-search inquiry

Wondering

FAQs

How is coaching different from therapy?

+

Therapy often focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions and healing the past. Coaching focuses on the present and the future: understanding your patterns, building tools, and moving toward the life you want. My coaching is trauma-informed, which means it’s paced, choice-centered, and attentive to your nervous system, but it isn’t a substitute for therapy or medical care.

Is coaching right for me?

+

Coaching can be a wonderful fit if you’re generally functioning in daily life and want support with anxiety, transitions, authenticity, or creativity. If you’re in crisis, or navigating trauma symptoms or a mental health condition, a licensed therapist is the best first step, and coaching can be a meaningful complement alongside it.

How do sessions work?

+

Sessions are 50 minutes, held weekly by video. Your weekly time is reserved just for you, which creates the consistency this work needs.

What is the investment?

+

Sessions are $250 each, paid before each session. Coaching isn’t covered by insurance.

Why do you ask for an eight-session commitment?

+

Real change needs time and consistency. Eight weeks gives us space to settle your nervous system, understand what’s beneath the surface, and begin living in new ways. At our eighth session, you can choose to continue or let those weeks be a complete chapter.

What is your cancellation policy?

+

Because your weekly time is held just for you, I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel. Sessions cancelled with less notice are charged in full.

How do I get started?

+

Begin by filling out the coaching inquiry form below. I read every inquiry personally and will reach out to schedule an initial consultation, where we’ll get to know each other and make sure we’re a good fit before we begin.

What happens in our first session?

+

We’ll get to know each other, explore what’s bringing you to coaching, and begin shaping your intentions for our work together, all at a pace that feels right for you.

Is what I share confidential?

+

Yes. What you share stays between us, except in rare situations where someone’s safety may be at risk.

Do you work with people outside Los Angeles?

+

Yes. Sessions are currently online, so you can work with me from wherever you are.

Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, medical care, or mental health treatment. If you’re in crisis, please contact a licensed professional or call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
