Creativity and Creative Blocks

Creative Expression

Where suppression becomes expression.

There's something in you that wants to be made. A story, a painting, a song, a business, a way of living that feels like art. Maybe it once came easily, before life got full and the inner critic got loud. Maybe you've never quite let yourself begin. Either way, the creative part of you is still there, waiting, and you can feel it in the ideas that flicker and fade, and the dreams you keep saving for someday.

What if your creativity was never lost, only held back?

Creative blocks are rarely about talent or discipline. More often, they're about safety: the fear of being seen, of getting it wrong, of discovering that what you make isn't good enough. So the creative impulse gets held in, and like any feeling held in too long, it can turn into restlessness, frustration, or anxiety.

My research found that creativity is a natural expression of the authentic self. When we feel safe enough to express who we are, creativity flows. So our work isn't about forcing output. It's about creating the conditions for your creativity to come home.

I personally define creativity as authentic expression.

The heart of it

How we'll work together

Creative coaching is playful, embodied, and deeply personal. Drawing on my life as an actress and writer, and my research in creativity studies, we tend your creative life like a garden: preparing the soil, planting what matters, and letting things grow in their own time.

We might:

  • Ground your nervous system, so creating feels safer and less loaded
  • Explore the fears and inner critics that keep your work hidden
  • Play with imagination, character, dreams, and archetypes to spark new ideas
  • Build a sustainable creative practice that fits your real life
  • Take small, brave steps toward sharing your work with the world
  • Navigate the tension between art, money, and identity with honesty and care

This work is trauma-informed and paced with your nervous system, so creativity can feel like freedom rather than pressure.

What might bloom…

  • Making time to create, and actually enjoying it
  • Letting your work be imperfect, and loving it anyway
  • Hearing your own creative voice clearly
  • Sharing what you make without bracing for judgment
  • A creative practice that nourishes you, rather than drains you
  • Feeling fully alive in what you create

I felt more of my authentic self when it felt safe enough for my inner child to play.

Wondering

FAQs

Do I have to be an artist to work with you?

+

Not at all. Creativity isn't limited to the arts. It lives in how you write, lead, cook, build, parent, dream, and solve problems. If you long to feel more creatively alive, this work is for you.

What's the difference between creative coaching and a creative class?

+

A class teaches technique. Creative coaching tends to the person making the work: your mindset, your nervous system, your fears, and your rhythms, so your creativity can flow more freely, whatever your craft.

Why does creating make me anxious?

+

Creating asks us to be seen, and being seen can feel risky, especially for sensitive souls. My research found that anxiety and creativity are closely connected, both rooted in the authentic self. As your nervous system learns that expression is safe, that anxiety often has more room to soften.

Can you help with a specific project?

+

Yes. We can focus on a particular project, like a book, a script, a collection, a launch, or any creative goal, supporting you from first spark to finished piece, with attention to both the process and the person behind it.

How long does coaching take?

+

Coaching begins with an initial commitment of eight weekly sessions, a focused container for this work. At our eighth session, we'll reflect together on where you are, and you can choose to continue with ongoing support or let those eight weeks be a complete chapter of their own.

Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, medical care, or mental health treatment. If you’re in crisis, please contact a licensed professional or call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
