Identity and Authenticity

Becoming

Stepping into who you are, and who you want to be.

Maybe you've spent years becoming who you were supposed to be: the good student, the reliable one, the success story. And somewhere along the way, you started to wonder who you'd be without the roles. You might feel a pull toward a truer life, even if you can't name it yet. Or you may know exactly who you long to become, and feel stuck in the space between here and there.

What if becoming is less about changing, and more about coming home?

Identity isn't fixed. We are always both being and becoming: rooted in who we are, and growing toward who we're meant to be. Yet many of us build our sense of self around what we do, what we achieve, or what others need from us, until the self underneath grows quiet.

In my research, authenticity wasn't something I had to invent. It was already there, waiting to be welcomed home. Becoming, then, isn't about turning into someone else. It's about remembering who you are, and giving that self room to grow.

I experienced my authentic self as a presence, a state of being.

The heart of it

How we'll work together

This is where my Rescripting Your Life approach comes alive. Like an actor stepping into a role, we practice living from the self you're becoming, until it feels like home.

We might:

  • Explore your values, desires, and the quiet knowing beneath the noise of expectations
  • Notice the old stories and roles that no longer fit, and gently rewrite them
  • Use visioning and imagination to get clear on who you're becoming
  • Rediscover your strengths, gifts, and natural resourcefulness
  • Tend your relationships, with yourself and others, from a place of authenticity
  • Turn vision into directed action, through small daily choices that let the new story take root

This work is trauma-informed, creative, and grounded in your body's wisdom.

What might bloom…

  • Knowing who you are beyond your roles and achievements
  • Making decisions from your own values, not others' expectations
  • Feeling at home in your body, your life, and your choices
  • Relationships where you can be fully yourself
  • Recognizing your gifts, and letting yourself use them
  • Living a story that finally feels like yours

Embodying the authentic self is a creative act.

What we'll cultivate

  • A clearer sense of who you are and what you value
  • Self-trust, so you can follow your inner knowing
  • A vision for your life that feels authentic and alive
  • Daily habits and choices that align with who you're becoming
  • Deeper, more honest connection with yourself and others

What you may be carrying

  • A sense that you've lost touch with who you really are
  • An identity built around achievement, roles, or caretaking
  • Uncertainty about what you truly want
  • The feeling that you're living someone else's script
  • A longing for more meaning, creativity, or aliveness
  • Knowing you're meant for more, but not knowing how to begin

FAQs

What does “authenticity” mean in this work?

+

It means being in right relationship with your true self (your values, feelings, desires, and gifts) and letting that guide how you live. It's less about a fixed identity and more about a living, ongoing connection with who you are.

What is Rescripting Your Life?

+

It's my coaching approach for turning vision into directed action. Drawing on my background as an actress and my doctoral research, we explore the old scripts you've outgrown, write a new one that reflects who you're becoming, and practice living it through grounded, everyday choices.

What if I don't know who I want to become?

+

That's a beautiful place to begin. Clarity often comes through exploration, not pressure. Together, we'll listen for what lights you up, what you long for, and what your body already knows.

Is this the same as life coaching?

+

It shares life coaching's focus on growth and action, and adds depth: somatic, nervous-system-based practices, creative and imaginative tools, and a research-based understanding of authenticity and anxiety.

How long does coaching take?

+

Coaching begins with an initial commitment of eight weekly sessions, a focused container for this work. At our eighth session, we'll reflect together on where you are, and you can choose to continue with ongoing support or let those eight weeks be a complete chapter of their own.

Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, medical care, or mental health treatment. If you’re in crisis, please contact a licensed professional or call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Ready to meet who you're becoming?

I work with a limited number of coaching clients at a time. If you feel called to begin, share a little about what’s bringing you here, and I’ll be in touch personally.
